Why Travel with Peru Coyana?
Peru Coyana invites you to live a short yet deeply enriching experience by visiting the mystical Floating Islands of the Uros, located on Lake Titicaca—the highest navigable lake in the world. Just minutes from Puno, this tour connects you with an ancestral culture that has adapted and thrived for centuries.
The Uros, also known as the Water Tribe, inhabit islands made entirely of totora reeds, which they use to construct their homes, boats, and even the ground they walk on. Their traditions and way of life offer a unique perspective on Andean lake culture.
Itinerary
The tour begins with a hotel pick-up in Puno, followed by a short transfer to the port. From there, we board a tourist boat that will take us on a 30-minute ride to the iconic Uros Floating Islands.
During the visit, you will learn how the Uros construct and maintain their reed islands, homes, and boats. You’ll also witness their fishing and hunting techniques and discover their unique social organization. We will visit small communities, schools, souvenir shops, and—optionally—you may ride a traditional reed boat (additional cost).
After engaging with the local families and gaining insights into their way of life, we return to Puno, concluding the experience.
