Why Travel with Peru Coyana?

Peru Coyana invites you to embark on a 2-day journey through the most captivating Andean landscapes of Cusco. The route to Huchuy Qosqo — an archaeological site located at 3,600 m.a.s.l. above the Sacred Valley — takes you along ancient Inca trails, across high Andean lagoons, natural canyons, living communities, and thousand-year-old terraces that seem to float over the cliffs.

Unlike longer treks, this route is perfect for those with limited time who still want a truly authentic experience of trekking, archaeology, and deep contact with Cusco’s natural beauty.

Itinerary Summary

  • Day 2: Pukamarca – Inca Canyon – Huchuy Qosqo – Lamay – Cusco

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – High Andean Lagoons – Pukamarca Community

Early in the morning, Peru Coyana will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco and transfer you to Tambomachay, where the hike begins. Along the trail, we cross the high puna grasslands, passing the lagoons of Suyllo Cocha and Qori Cocha — home to Andean ducks and highland gulls.

We’ll then cross a mountain pass (above 4,000 m.a.s.l.) and descend to Pukamarca, a traditional small community where we set up camp. You’ll have the chance to visit Inca walls and enjoy dinner under a starry sky and pure mountain air.

Day 2: Pukamarca – Inca Canyon – Huchuy Qosqo – Lamay – Cusco

After breakfast, we pass through the León Punku Canyon — a narrow and dramatic route with wooden bridges, tunnels, and cliffs. After about 1.5 hours of hiking, we reach Huchuy Qosqo, where a guided tour reveals its history and architecture, with stunning views of the Sacred Valley below.

We descend along zigzagging trails to Lamay, where our vehicle awaits to return us to Cusco. End of the service.
